Needless to say that the holidays is the season where one accumulates strength for the cold yet to come. In other words, where you get fat. Bearing that in mind and knowing that January would sing another song, December was the time where we stuffed our faces with pretty much anything we wanted, at any time of the day, in any indecent quantity our stomachs could muster.

So during our little trip to Barcelona last month,I tried the . They were a pretty good antidote to the cold outside, if you know what I mean…

You choose the bread, type of meat, the other ingredients like cheese, jalapenos, guacamole, bacon…. the type of fries you want and beverages. You pay, take your pretty little number to the table and wait for bliss to be served. The burgers are pink just like I like ’em. The big hand-cut fries were truly nice. Very crisp outside, super soft inside.

Sure, this isn’t Barcelona’s culinary crème de la catalan crème. It’s still a burger, sure. It’s not El Bulli, it’s not delicate and it’s definetely not light. But sometimes, what you need is a good decadent comforting burger, with cheese and meat juice running down your chin.

So if you’re in Barcelona and happen to be in that mood, head to Bacoa. There are three to choose from:

Little Bacoa, C/Colomines 2, 08003 Barcelona, Open Wed, Thu and Sun from 13 to 23h and Fri and Sat from 13 to midnight.

Kiosko, Marquès de l’Argentera, 1 bis, 08003 Barcelona,  Open everyday from 13 to 1h.
