I recently discovered located in the up-and-coming hood of Marolles. You won’t be surprised to hear that it was Kathryn who gave me the heads up.

The organic market is part of a bigger project: Les Ateliers des Tanneurs, which also hosts events and encompasses a local business incubator.

At the very heart of the Marolles, The Tanneurs Market is housed in the former Wine Palace and the Merchie Pède Shops.

You enter the market, grab your wooden basket and fill it with fresh organic veggies, fruits, dairy products and other delicacies -such as almond cream (!), bread, pastries, cereal, grains and even sweets and sauces. And the best part? The prices… They’re sooooo not what you would expect from an organic market in a central location… It’s really quite cheap!! I was surprised…

I am making most of my grocery-shopping at Les Tanneurs from now on. It’s local, organic, small producers get the benefits and it’s quite the bargain! Not exactly Delhaize, is it? Although I will admit that “regular” supermarkets have other perks such as nutella, chicken nuggets and cat litter. Oh, reminds me…
