I was recently in Panama for work. I have to admit I didn’t see much. We were in meetings for most of the week and the 6h jetlag was a bitch. Most of what I saw was through our bus window, with ridiculous armed guards escorting us. But on my last day, I spent an afternoon in the “casco viejo” downtown. The contrast with the modern part of Panama was striking. Buh-bye icy towers, banks and skyscrappy hotels. Buh-bye Cheap Dubai. Hello colonial run-down houses, colourful nikes, panama hats vendors. Clothes drying in the sun on the balconies. Street food. Patacones. Ceviche. Taxis honking to catch a rider. The sheer heat. Here some pictures that speak louder than words.
