I’m all packed and about to head to one of my favorite festivals this summer: DOUR. I missed the first two days (12 and 13 July) but still 3 days to enjoy the most alternative and genuine music scenes of the summer. So from today 14th July until Sunday 16th, I’ll be douring.
For this 29th edition, the festival is gathering over 230 artists who will play in 8 different stages from all corners of the soundscape. From rock to folk, hip hop, indie pop, metal and rap, there’s enough to get your summer music fix. The line up is pretty impressive (see below, but to keep track of possible changes, stay tuned via their smartphone app) and I’m especially looking forward to the gigs by:
The Kills (UK) – whom I have already seen in VK are an iconic piece of Brit Rock with dark and intimate lyrics and melodies.
Pale Grey (BE) – who are presenting their freshly released EP Ghosts.
Warhaus (BE) – The solo project of Balthazar’s vocalist Maarten Devoldere. Think soothing vocals and a Nick Cave like universe. Their album «We fucked a flame into being» is a hypnotic piece of art.
Bazart (BE) – The Dutch singing band are a huge phenomenon of indie pop with uberknown songs like Goud.
Phoenix (FR) – Far from the garage days, the band blends pop, rock and disco into a merry feast. Lately, they have been featured in Netflix holiday special directed by Sophia Coppola (A very Murray Christmas). Their last opus Ti Amo channels the sheer joy of Italian discos with politically varnished lyrics.
Millionaire (BE) – Spin-off band from dEUS and Evil Superstar, Botanique sold out Millionaire is bound to give you an energy overdose.
Roméo Elvis & Le Motel (BE) – and their super fresh rap who already galvanised the masses in Les Ardentes. His second album Morale 2 is a badass must for 2017.
Justice (FR) – They come back with Woman after several years of radio silence. The dou made of Gaspard Augé and Xavier de Rosnay will get us all bouncing on the last Arena this Friday.
I’ll be posting pics and hopefully interview material after the festivities. Till then… DOUREUUUUH!!!!
