had been on my to-do list for quite some time. And as I haven’t been in Brussels all that much lately, I kept postponing it.
But when I heard they were holding a temporary mozzarella bar, the clock stopped ticking and I knew… the time had come.
First thing’s first. Before we get cheesy, let’s talk about Pimpinelle.
Located in the Ste Catherine area, on rue Flandre 57, Pimpinelle is three things in one:
You can find all sorts of creative kitchen utensils, lovely dishware, gourmet products or books. Nothing high-tech, just your good old mechanical kitchenware in noble materials like enamel, ceramic or copper.
You can enjoy a lunch in their tea-room and be delighted by the resident chef of the moment.
…Or book a cooking workshop. They cover all kinds of food styles, from Italian to Indian; from Brazilian to Korean.
Check the workshop calendar here.
The shop is curated by Aline in a way which combines the trendiest of designs with your granny’s kitchen. It’s hard to leave without a buy. Plus everything seems so useful in a weird sort of way…

Fan of lemonades as I am (especially pink ones), I left with two bottles of Elixia: rose and orange blossom.
To come back to the Mozzarella bar…
In the context of the (the annual show for design lovers), S.Pellegrino gave Pimpinelle carte blanche to organize an event under the auspices of design and italian cooking.
What better idea than a Mozarella Bar! From Tuesdays to Saturdays at lunch time, you can compose your plate by picking your kind of mozzarella (I personally love burrata from the Puglia region) and its delicious companions: deli meat cuts or grilled veggies.
I had burrata and grilled vegetables. Absolutely delicious. My cheese accomplice had the treccine, which was good, but of course less creamy.
If you want to discover the Pimpinelle universe, come to the Mozzarella Bar official Opening Party TOMORROW Friday September 12 at 18.30.
You’ll be able to sample products by , the yummiest of mozzarellas straight from artisan Italian producers and mingle with the designers behing the project.
Ready, agenda, go.
