So let’s state the obvious: chocolate is one of the best things in the universe.

I personally like it in my breakfast, after lunch and if possible, as a sinful little snack in the late afternoon. In all its forms. Cookie (hello, ), ice cream (Berthillon), praline () and macaroons.

Therefore, there is no way I would miss the 2nd Edition of the Brussels Salon du Chocolat, the weekend of 6-8 February!! Chocolate conferences, tastings, pastry workshops…

The first edition had such incredible success that the organisers have decided to hold the second Fair in Brussels Expo. 6,000 m² exclusively dedicated to chocolate with small craftsmen, industrial chocolate-makers, pâtissiers, chefs and even fashion designers! Fancy a chocolate-dress?

I was lucky enough to be invited to the pre-inauguration yesterday so I could give you the heads up. To be absolutely honest, I made the mistake of parking at the C car park. So I had to walk like 2km (and back) to the Palais 1. It took a big amount of chocolate sampling to soften my mood.

My personal crushes at the Fair:

Barú: delicious marshmallows covered in chocolate. An immediate trip back in time to my childhood. And such a cute packaging!

Le comptoir de Mathilde: I especially liked the hot chocolate bars that come on a wooden spoon and the chocolate bars that come with a hammer to break them!

chocoMe: this is like chocolate art. I mean the chocolate bars are so beautiful that you almost don’t want to break it! But you should, cause they’re very good.

Larmuseau Snowballs: You can only get these babies from September to March. They’re a soft vanilla cream cloud covered in a thin layer of dark chocolate and powder sugar. it mels it your mouth like snow! nice surprise!
