is the new kid in town and my personal headquarters from now on. Located in the heart of the EU quarter, right in place Jean Rey next to the Aloft hotel, GC is absolutely stunning. I love everything about it. It’s huge and has a beautiful sleek design. The architecture is just superb. Designed by Frédéric Nicolay (Belga, Barbeton, Potemkine, Bonsoir Clara…), GC is modern but timeless, with its concrete walls, marble counters, high ceilings and wooden furniture. The light fixtures are a bit retro and their warmth has something of a Belga reminiscence. A new Brussels-classic is born.
There are several bars inside, which won’t come as a suprise since GC is approx 600 sq. metres big. You can have a buffet lunch & dinner upstairs (veggie, fish or meat) and the dishes proposed are really lovely. You have roasted carrots, white beans on red sauce (my favorite), green spring salad, stuffed pasta, pesto rice & many more seasonal delicacies. Plus the prices are super mild, at a mere 9,90 eur for the veggie buffet. (Warning: it’s not an all you can eat meal, it’s a buffet in the sense you choose how to fill your plate from all the dishes on display). Lunch is from 12am – 2pm and dinner from 6-9pm.
For dessert or your afternoon tea, the carrot cake and the brownie are a legend-in-the-making and they have a barista who’s some kind of coffee Picasso. I mean look at the super cute latte designs he made… You kinda feel bad taking a sip!
They also have a brunch deal on Sundays, an all you can eat buffet at 19 euros (hot drinks not included) with seasonal specialties, a selection of pastries, fruits & much more. Brunch is from 10am – 3pm and I’m planning on trying it real soon. Here’s hoping spring finally hits town so I can enjoy their big sunny terraces!
For meat lovers, there is also a BBQ, where you can try the Kefta, grilled meatballs on iraqi bread & herb sauce.
Football fans: you can watch the UEFA matches at GC in their big screens! Super cool atmosphere guaranteed.
